An Evening at Yellow & Co.
There’s a certain kind of night we really love at Yellow & Co. It's a 'show night' and we're expecting a crowd! Let's walk through the experience of attending a show at Yellow & Co.
We refer to the event side of our business as Yellow & Co. Events, and it has it's own website and social media entities. But, we often have customers in the shop that really had no idea! (not sure how, but I digress...)
At first you might be slightly confused when you open the doors and see a gift shop with soft pink walls and a bunch of pretty candles, sparkling jewelry, beautiful art, jars of jam, a wall of greeting cards...but you don't see a stage. You look around like you're lost. But the person at the desk says 'You're in the right place, I'll check you in here'.
Now, here is where the fun begins, because you're a little early and now you can experience the shop.
Some of our comedians have called us an 'upscale Cracker Barrel'. Or we're 'The Gift Shop Show'. We jokingly say 'there's a 2 gift minimum', and it's because Yellow & Co. wouldn't be Yellow & Co. without the fun gift shop!

Take your time. Browse a little. Pick up a gift for someone—or find something you absolutely did not come here looking for but now somehow cannot live without. Check out the new candles, the funny mugs, the puzzles and plush and all the little things that make you laugh out loud and grab your date and say 'Look at this!!!'.
Don't forget to grab some snacks! Hard to watch a show without a snack, am I right?
We have popcorn that tastes like it was bagged up at the state fair, delicious chocolates, and a whole assortment of fun and funky candy that you probably didn't know existed five minutes ago but probably your kids have seen on TikTok. Snack mixes and pretzels and salty goodies, too. Sometimes we have charcuterie boxes from The Hive that offer a little more elevated snack experience.
Eventually, you wander on in to the event space.
There's a total vibe change. once you step through the double doors.
The chandeliers are dimmed, the candles are lit, the disco ball is spinning. The music changes. Friends settle in. The bar is open.
And this brings us to one of the most frequently discussed—and occasionally mocked—things about Yellow & Co.:
We don't serve ice.
We know. We know.
But there's actually a very good reason.
Ice is loud.
And when you're sitting in an intimate room listening to a comedian build up to a punchline, or a musician play a quiet song, the last thing anyone needs is someone behind the bar enthusiastically shaking a handful of ice around in a cocktail shaker like it's the Copa Cabana.
Our performers appreciate the peace and quiet.
So instead, we have a really good selection of cold canned drinks waiting for you.

They're cold.
They're refreshing.
They're quiet.
Everybody wins.
If you simply must have ice, you may bring your own. Just take the lid off of your Stanley before you enter the bar so we can make sure there's no drink smuggling going on.
Now you're going to find your seat. And just know, there are no bad seats at Yellow & Co, as our capacity maxes out at around 110 people. We have a wall of banquette seating with tables (tables cost a little extra but our customers think they're worth it). We also have front row table seating. For our larger capacity shows, there is row seating, but our chairs are comfortable and roomy. This is not a standing room establishment. This is a sittin' spot.
At some point you're going to notice that our bathrooms are beautiful, too. Be sure and 'visit the Mona Lisa' (the Yellow & co. euphemism for...well, you know.
Now the show begins and maybe you are there to hear someone you've never seen live before. Discover a new musician. See a comedian who has been on television or in movies. Run into people you know. Laugh with friends, mingle amongst the other cool people who don't want to stay out too late.
Our shows start at 7. Which you might think is really early. But Mahomet is a family community and our customers let us know, that 10:00 is way past their bedtime. So, the 7 pm showtimes. and you're at home in bed by 9:30 or so.
Now you know why we call our patrons the 'home by 9:30 club'.
And you don't have to drive to Champaign. You don't have to find parking downtown. You don't have to navigate a giant venue where your seat is approximately 14 miles from the stage. You don't have to pay 14.00 for a single can of Seltzer. (Most of our drinks are in the 5-7.00 range)
And speaking of price, most of our shows are 25.00. There's no blue dot fever here. 25.00 is a bargain, in our opinion, and we just want to make sure as many people as possible can enjoy one of our shows. We COULD charge you more, but we just want to share the love.
Right here in Mahomet there is a building with "One address. Two vibes."
Come shop by day.
Come see a show by night.
Or better yet, make a whole evening of it, one that you won't soon forget.
